Definition
People Also Ask is the box of related questions Google shows in some search results. Click a question and it opens a short answer taken from a web page, with a link to that page. Google's own name for it is a related questions group.
Example. On 8 November 2026 a US search for seo skills showed a box with questions such as "What is Claude SEO?" and "Is SEO a technical skill?", each one opening a short answer.
You can see which of the smaller searches behind a question already show a People Also Ask box with the free Query Fan-Out Tool.
Where do People Also Ask answers come from?
People Also Ask answers come from featured snippets: short passages Google lifts from a web page. Google says that when someone opens a question in the box, they are shown a featured snippet. The page that wins a question is the one with a clear, short answer to it.
How often does People Also Ask show up?
People Also Ask showed up far less often than AI Overviews in the searches we checked. On 8 November 2026 we pulled the live Google results, US desktop, for the 50 searches that send hawkacademy.co the most non-branded clicks.
| Search result feature | Searches showing it, of 50 |
|---|---|
| AI Overview | 49 |
| People Also Ask | 4 in one pull, 5 in a second pull minutes later |
| Related searches | 48 |
These are searches about Claude and AI SEO, checked on one day, so treat the numbers as a picture of this one topic. On this topic, the AI Overview is the feature to plan for. Results also change from one pull to the next, which is why we show both counts.
How do you use People Also Ask questions?
You use People Also Ask questions as a list of what searchers ask next. Google says what shows up in the box is out of your control, and that the questions are useful when you plan a page. Answer the ones that fit your page in a sentence or two, under a heading that asks the question, so Google has a clean passage to show.
